Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager at Engrate, you will be a key commercial driver responsible for opening new doors, building customer relationships, and converting prospects into long-term Engrate customers. Working closely with our founders and product experts, you’ll be at the forefront of our go-to-market motion — helping energy companies unlock the value of our Cost of Energy and Market Access products.
You’ll thrive in ambiguity, bring energy sector credibility to every conversation, and have a bias for action that keeps our pipeline moving.
Responsibilities
What you’ll own.
Pipeline & Sales
- Drive high-volume outbound activity — booking meetings with relevant potential customers is your primary objective and the core KPI you’ll be measured on
- Lead and execute customer meetings independently and alongside product experts
- Own the full sales cycle for our Cost of Energy product as primary focus, and Market Access as secondary
- Follow up on leads and self-sign-up accounts to convert them from free to paying customers
Partnerships & Brand
- Engage with Distribution System Operators (DSOs) to build partnerships through our DSO Connect offering
- Drive social selling — actively engaging decision makers in the energy industry on LinkedIn and other relevant channels
- Collaborate with marketing on Account Based Marketing (ABM) campaigns and follow up on generated leads
- Support the creation of sales and marketing messages, pitch materials, and outreach copy
Operations
- Manage and maintain pipeline hygiene and customer data in our CRM
- Track and report pipeline coverage, conversion rates, and meeting volume proactively
- Support customer onboarding to ensure a smooth handover and early value realisation
- Be the voice of the customer internally, feeding market signals back to product and founders
Requirements
What we’re looking for.
- B2B sales or business development experience in the energy sector
- A general understanding of the different types of energy companies, how they work and interact with each other
- Strong understanding of concepts like grid tariffs, energy optimization, and balance responsible parties is a significant advantage
- Proven track record of generating pipeline through outbound activity and booking high-quality meetings
- Comfortable owning the full sales cycle from prospecting to close
- Experience growing and expanding customer accounts is a strong plus
- Experience working in an early-stage startup or scale-up environment is an advantage
- Disciplined about pipeline management
- Experience or willingness to learn how to work with AI to scale your impact
- Fluent in English; Swedish a strong plus
